About Me:
Originally from Poland I have settled in Limerick County in the Republic of Ireland, I’ve spent the past nineteen years embracing Ireland as my home. I consider myself an enthusiastic and adaptable individual with a passion for technology and a keen interest in IT-related services. I’ve been a family “tech-guy” since my youngest years, fixing remote controls, plugging in VCRs, configuring TV sets, dealing with Christmas lights AND troubleshooting computer related issues for family and friends… Let’s just say my childhood / teenage years were fun and full of adventures.
My Skills:
I was messing with computers since around late 1980’s. I’m a self-taught Gnu/Linux user with over 15 years of experience. I’m proficient in Microsoft, Apple, and Google-based operating systems and applications. My expertise includes computer maintenance, software installation and configuration, network and web server administration. I enjoy tackling technical challenges.
For example this (WordPress based) website and few other of my self-hosted services (based on pleroma, piwigo and phpaste projects) are hosted on a Frankfurt server provided by Oracle’s “Always Free” services. The server runs Ubuntu 22.04 Linux, configured (by me using Linux command line) with Nginx, a free SSL certificate from letsencrypt.org, and a PHP environment alongside a MySQL database. Additionally, the domain name was acquired through OVH. Server is also capable of sending and receiving e-mails. Some of the graphics (logos / icons) were created / edited by me using Gimp and / or Inkscape. This is a good example of my small nerdy projects.
Personal Passions:
In addition to my IT prowess, I am passionate about food, movies, music, books, and indoor gardening.
Tech Blogger & Enthusiast:
As a tech blogger, I delve into various aspects of the digital world, sharing my experiences, knowledge and occasional rant. From troubleshooting tech problems to exploring the latest software developments,
Beyond the realms of technology, I’m also captivated by the world of food and cooking. Expect occasional food recipes and culinary adventures alongside the tech-related content. I find immense joy in experimenting with flavours and sharing nom nom recipes with my nerdmigos.
Health Update: Living with Health Challenges
Due to ongoing health issues, including heart failure, respiratory problems and Type 2 diabetes, I am currently under the care of my doctors and following their strict restrictions. Doctors have advised me to avoid exhausting myself with manual labour and to steer clear of any stressful situations. These restrictions are essential for my well-being, and I am committed to following their guidance to the best of my ability. As a result, I am unable to work and I am currently receiving “Illness benefits”. I am also in the process of applying for “Invalidity Pension” to ensure long-term financial stability while I focus on my health and well-being.
Update 18/01/2024:
I have been granted “Invalidity Pension” starting Thursday, the 1st of February 2024. This means that I will receive a regular income from the state to support myself and my family.
I want to thank the people from the Irish Department of Social Protection (DSP) for their help and guidance throughout this journey. They have been very kind and professional, and they have made this possible for me. I am very grateful for their service and compassion.
This pension is our only source of income and is very important for me and my family, in these difficult times when I am incapable of work due to my health condition. It will provide us with some financial stability and security.
I appreciate your continued support and encouragement as well. You have been a source of inspiration and motivation for me, and I hope to keep sharing my thoughts and experiences with you on this blog. Thank you for being part of my life.
