Lidl’s “Waste Not” Policy.

Hello beautiful peoples!

Lidl, the German discount supermarket chain, has launched a new initiative called “Waste Not” in Ireland to tackle food waste. The initiative involves selling boxes of mixed fruit and vegetables that are priced at just €3 and contain at least 5kg of fresh produce. The fruits and vegetables included in the boxes are sourced from multipacks where some products have become slightly damaged and removed, and the remaining items which are perfectly good to eat are then used to make up the Waste Not boxes. This initiative is expected to save more than 950,000kg of food from going to waste annually.

The Waste Not boxes are a win-win for both shoppers and the environment. Shoppers can enjoy significant savings while also contributing to the reduction of food waste. The initiative is a step towards sustainable living and encourages people to be mindful of their food consumption and waste. And the cherry on top? As You can see from the photo my wife took today – my local Lidl does that too 😁 which is great because I was told by Lidl representative that: “We do not have exact list of stores for the moment in time, our aim is that each store would be able to offer Waste Not boxes during the day, amount of boxes and their availability depends on the fruit and veg waste during the day.” so Your mileage may vary.

In conclusion, Lidl’s “Waste Not” policy is a commendable initiative that aims to reduce food waste and promote sustainable living. It is a reminder that small steps can lead to significant changes in our environment and society.
