[SOLVED] The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion – Vampirism Cure From Console. Also… How to Batch…?

Hello beautiful peoples!

During one of the early missions in Oblivion I contracted “Porphyric Hemophilia” which uncured (because dumbass… and curiosity) turned me into a vampire… As fun as it sounds, it can be a pain in the backside…

You have to drink blood once every 24 hours otherwise people will not talk to you and they will not help you and / or give you any information until you feed. To feed you need to walk up to a sleeping, unconscious or dead person and activate them… If you don’t, even as simple task as renting a room for a night can become a major pain in the backside…

Then I wait till one of the guests in the Inn go Zzzzz and I break into their room and I nom-nom…

And people react differently. Maybe I am just not myself when I am hungry? 😉😜😁

There are other “benefits” to feeding…

Before we proceed I want to make sure that two things are VERY clear.

1. I am definitely reloading my save file after being done with this HOWTO. I am staying a creature of the night. Its fun and adds complexity to the gameplay.
2. Curing yourself of vampirism (in any way) breaks vampirism. Once you cure yourself of vampirism – there is no going back to the “normal” vampire way. Cure is permanent. To be vampire again You would have to use command line again but its not working 100% correctly. Its the same thing with an actual remedy for vampirism in the game. You have to get the cure (which takes some doing…) and once You take it “Porphyric Hemophilia” becomes just another curable disease with no extra benefits after you Zzzzz.

Well if its so fun then WHY did you write this article? You might ask…

For 3 reasons:

1. Not everyone likes this aspect of the game and they might be looking for permanent and quick cure
2. I got curious on how to cure it and the answer was not obvious right away so… reaserch…
3. I thought I will combine curing vampirism and learning how to use batch files in Oblivion console. Its very handy and it can automate tasks and make life much easier.

So how did I cured myself of vampirism?

I opened the Notepad window and I pasted this:

Then I clicked and chose from the dropdown menu.

I navigated to the Oblivion installation folder

Now I changed the file name from “Set vampire.hasdisease to -1.txt” to “CureVampirism” and press in the bottom right corner.

Then I opened the Oblivion game and loaded my save.

I pressed tilde character while in game to activate console, and typed in:

bat CureVampirism.txt

Then pressed .

And I was cured. Mission accomplished.
