Hello beautiful peoples!
Several days ago we found this in our mailbox. Our electricity supplier had to do some maintenance and was informing us that we would have no electricity on Monday the 12th of February 2024 since 9 in the morning till 5 30 in the afternoon… I understand it has to be done occasionally – does not change the fact that I HATE when it happens… Why? In my house EVERYTHING is electric:
- You want coffee? NOPE… Electric kettle… Electric coffee maker…
- Want to heat up some food? NOPE… Microwave, air fryer, stove… ELECTRIC…
- Shower? NEIN! Electric pressure shower…
- Router is powered by electricity so no internet… I could use my laptop on battery with my phone as 4G mobile internet router in a pinch…
Basically nothing will get done when they turn off the power. SO we have decided to visit Limerick for the day. Our main target? King John’s Castle. We took a bus to Limerick Colbert railway station, we had a coffee at the Starbucks, then we took a taxi (€9) to the castle. The tickets for the “self-guided tour” will cost You €13 per person (currently). We have spent around 2.5 hours in there.
We took some photos and videos.
Limerick City 12/02/2024 photos went to Our Photo Gallery
And the videos were uploaded to Our YouTube Channel
Afterwards we had a coffees and a muffins at the Castle’s bar and we bought some cool gifts in the Castle’s gift shop. We had a grand ol’ time.
Then we took a walk back to the Limerick Colbert railway station which went under the scalpel recently and had a facelift done. Looks better! On our way we were window-shopping and browsing at many local shops and we have sent some of the gifts we have purchased at the Castle’s gift shop.
The weather was grand… it started drizzling around half 2 as we were getting into the bus back home…
^^ We got those fridge magnets at the Castle’s gift shop.
On our way home we got some Chinese food as we were proper hungry and the electricity was not supposed to be back for another 45 minutes or so… plus after over 8 km of walking neither my wife or myself felt like cooking…
All and all – very enjoyable day and we feel like we have supported Irish economy which is important to us. We are part of this community for nearly twenty years…
Catch you on the flip side,
AndrzejL
P.S. Important conclusion… Recently we have (again) re-tested few dishes from the Chinese cuisine menus. Our conclusion is – it is NOT our cup of tea. Today was the last time. Unless there is NO choice – We will chose something else… Nothing wrong with Chinese food. I am sure many people love it – unfortunately neither my wife nor myself are one of those people…
